Brian reads
I have always been pretty disciplined about reading, beginning in elementary school when I strove to read “advanced” books; on to high school and the SAT II reading list; and then adulthood, which found me scanning book reviews and prize shortlists for good contemporary material.
Brian is completely different. His interests are ever-expanding and nearly unlimited. He has an MFA in poetry and has studied and appreciated tons of canonical literature, but doesn’t consider the canon when selecting reading material, some of which he picks up on a whim at thrifts or the Friends of the Library sale. He goes off on reading tangents that often mystify me. Brian also reads faster than anyone I have ever met, often devouring three or four books in one day.
Now Brian finally has a blog about his reading life in which he records (in mostly chronological order) the books he’s read with short reviews and a final grade. Read it!
